As an artist, I’ve often had a need to print artwork at larger sizes than most home printers can handle. If you need to print anything over legal size, you have two choices. Head down to your local print shop, or invest in a wide format printer. This Epson Workforce WF-7710 review will look at one of the most popular wide format printers on todays market.
The Epson WorkforceWF-7710 is a wide format printer designed to be a middle ground between high quality art prints and everyday document printing. Let’s take a look at how it stacks up.
Early Bottom Line:
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710 has some drawbacks, but overall is a very solid wide format printer for posters, artwork, and the occasionally document printing.

What You Need to Look For
When buying a wide format printer, you should be looking for a printer which has great printing and scanning quality. It should also be fast, efficient, and reliable.

The best thing I can say about any printer is that it will last. I can say that about this printer because I still have my Epson Workforce WF-7610. It’s been five years, and it still works great. I know first hand that with regular maintenance these printers hold up great.
Great Print Quality
Epson has some of the best printing and scanning quality in the entire printing industry. The Epson Workforce WF-7710 has a max print resolution of 2400 DPI, which is double most all in one printers.
Along with that, Epson printers have great dense blacks and more vibrant colors than most competitors. This printer will create beautiful dynamic prints at multiple sizes.
Epson makes better scanners than HP, Canon, Brother, or anyone else. This printer’s scanner is no exception.
The Epson Workforce WF-7710 has a scanner with a max resolution of 4800 DPI. It also has great color and contrast replication. This means you’ll get the best quality scans possible, up to 13 in. X 19 in. in size.
Fair Priced Ink
This printer takes the Epson 252 and 252XL cartridges. These cartridges are a good middle ground between in-store pricing, and cost per page. You pay a medium amount, and get a medium amount of pages. That’s a good place to be in for most home users.
While HP leads the industry in green printers and ink, Epson is improving in this area as well. Basically, the newer printers will use less energy than your older printers. You can feel a little better printing and help reduce your environmental footprint.
As I’ve said before, I have big, clunky sausage fingers. I like to be able to just jab my pokers at the screen and have it do what I want.
The screen on the Epson Workforce WF-7710 is built for people like me. Nice big icons which are easy to click and decide between what you want to do. That makes this printer easy to use for pretty much everyone.
That’s all the good for this Epson Workforce WF-7710 review. Let’s take a look at the bad.
Print Head Clogs Easily
This is the big problem with Epson printers. They have fantastic print heads, built around their Precision Core technology. However, they clog up very easily.
If you go without printing for even a week, you’re probably going to have partial blockage of one or more of the ports. The only way to prevent this is to print on a very consistent basis.
If the print head does clog, be sure to run the cleaning cycle as many times as needed to fix the issue. Hopefully it comes unclogged, because…
Print Head is Expensive
Print heads tend to be very expensive from every printer manufacturer. If you can manage to find a print head replacement, it will likely cost almost as much or more than you paid for the printer. This is to discourage you from repairing your printer, and encourage you to buy a new one. Again, that’s why regular cleaning is so important.
No 2nd Paper Tray
I hate only having one paper tray. Especially for wide format printers, having the ability to store two types of paper saves a lot of headaches. Since this printer doesn’t offer a second paper tray, I’d recommend you check out our Epson Workforce WF-7720 review. The Bottom Line
Well, that’s our Epson Workforce WF-7710 review. We’ve talked about how great the print and scan quality are, and how this printer will hold up over time. As long as you stay on top of regular maintenance, this printer will serve your wide format printing needs for years to come.
It has a second paper tray, a few more additional features, and isn’t much more expensive.
This printer offers fast document printing and super efficient ink cartridges. It’s everything you look for in an all-in-one office printer, with wide format printing thrown in.
